56 Plate Toyota Rav4 Fault

I was hoping someone could help. I bought a 56 plate Rav4 2.2D D4D from a local dealer 8 weeks ago. Since having the vehicle, there has been an intermittent fault. The vehicle starts perfectly, but sometimes from setting off in 1st gear doing 5/6 mph, there's an electrical cut out that shuts of the electrics including power steering (which is a bit eerie) for a few seconds and then kicks in again. During the few seconds there's clicking noises from the dash. The engine does not stall. It only happens from set off from cold start (not when driving). Toyota put it diagnostics, a code came up which they cleared and it didn't do it for 5 weeks, but has started again. Does anybody have any ideas what it could be please? I'm feeling fobbed off by the dealer and only have 4 weeks warranty left to get the problem sorted.

By the way...The code (DTC) that was brought up was steering angle sensor, so they just cleared it.

if you bought the car within the UK from a registered dealer after 1/10/15 you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund up until 6 months. Unless you agree otherwise the dealer is only allowed one chance at fixing/replacing before you are entitled to a refund.

I'm hoping the fault can be found and fixed as I've spent several hundred pounds on the bodywork and extra's since having it. I'd like to hear if anyone's has a similar fault or could suggest what it might be. Thanks.

Might be a long shot but check the condition of the engine earth strap, especially the connections at each end. A high resistance in the strap can cause all sorts of problems with low or intermittent low voltage level.

Good luck
