It looks to me as though someone's tried to force open the door with a crowbar. Does anyone have any idea how much it'd cost to put this right? I assume quite a bit otherwise the garage would have had it done.

The damage is in photo 19.

If you click on the main photo, the others come up. It's photo number 19. It's a close-up of the damage. Looks to be in a bad place re. getting it repaired.

Hi,

LOL ; don't know how I missed those pics this morning ?? ...too much vino !

Have you seen the car in the flesh ?

If the Versos roofs are as soft as the standard hatchbacks then I would want to see the rest of the roof in the dry, in that pic its covered with rain, but there looks like what could be ripple marks further behind the dent.

As its a dealer, then if everything else on the car is fine, I would make it a condition they repair it, before you buy, to me it looks like something one of the dent specialists could easily do, if its just that dent and not wider damage.

If they are not interested then perhaps emails that pic to some local mobile dent specialists and see what they say.

Either way I would be more interested in checking out the rest of the car on a test drive...

I haven't looked at the car yet. I may go and have a look this coming week.

To be honest, I wouldn't be happy asking the dealer to fix it because I doubt they'd do the best job. I've known garages who pay the local 'under the arches' guy to bodge it. It looks great for a few months until the water and air gets to it. I suppose a discount would be an alternative but I just don't want to buy it and find it's going to cost an arm and a leg to put right. Maybe one to avoid.

What about Dent Devil I hear they're pretty good at fixing. most kinds of minor body damage n do quality work.

It looks to be purely cosmetic, the window frame of the rear door doesn't appear to be bent and the damage looks far too small and localised to be of any kind of structural problem...... of course you can only surmise so much from a photo and only seeing it in the flesh will determine just how bad it is or isn't but at the very least it's a good, very visible bad point to try and get a better deal out of the seller.

A bodyshop, at the dealers which is bound to have one if it's a main dealer could fix that easily enough so it'd be worth trying to hold out for them to repair it but if not Dent Devil or similar would be able to sort it, the price is anyones guess though

Hi

I know Dentdevil certainly cant fix that via pdr...thats a body shop job..i know this as i purchased a car that had a number of dings going down than section...its a solid area so things cant be pushed out...had to go via bodyshop route for fill n spray.

Sorry mate.

It sounds like an expensive fix. I think I'll keep on looking. Shame because it looks like it could be a good honest car.

Ok, I take it Dentdevil only do certain kinds of dents then. Have never used them myself but know a few people who have and they say good things.

Definitely a bodyshop job,it'll probabaly need filled although they can tack weld these keys to a dent then pull out the dent with them in areas like this where rear access isn't possible and it's amazing how well it works but even then it still needs skimmed with filler to complete the job.

Not wanting to hog you're thread but do you thonk Dentdevils could do anything with my rear wheelarch cos I was gonna give them a shout about it, she's had it since I've had her but it has always grated on me and has to go.

You certainly seem to be casting your net far n wide rather than settling on the first decent looking car that comes along but it's less about milages and blemishes on the body work that counts but the condition of the mechanicals particularly transmission, abs if you're looking at cars well under 10 years old but most of all the a solid engine.... just because modern cars throw up fault codes doesn't mean that if the engine light isn't coming on the engines a good one,it's there for emmisions faults, management system - fueling, ignition and emmisions systems but, for example, shot big ends won't throw up a fault code nor a failing lubrication system.

There's aiming high but perhaps a car with a minor dent above the rear door isn't abad buy if the rest of the car is in A1 condition...... check out as many motors as possible but don't let minor cosmetics blind you to a hell of a lot of motor for the money otherwise
