Time To Say Goodbye Sadly

I feel sad to say that we finally traded in our lovely Corolla petrol 1.6SR manual yesterday, and so she's now gone...and will hopefully end up with a loving family...couple...or a sensible individual lol.

We had her for 5 and a half years and hand on heart...never had any issues with her...we only ever replaced a set of discs and pads... A pair of front drop links....and any money spent were our own mods.

Speaking of mods, i have quite a few things to sell since their surplus to requirements, this is not my main reason for this posting just to clarify guys n girls, its incase if anybody is interested thats all, i enjoyed playing around with her, for example, i have a set of headlamp protectors, 3 tte front strut braces, a boot liner, set of grey mats, pair of tweeters with matching grill covers, and a spare blue front splitter which i purchased years ago incase my silver one ever broke, wish i could have removed my silver one because i know how rare they are, but i couldnt sell the car without it, and a pair of rear lexus style lamps still boxed but were used for a while. Oh and the big one...a set of 5 compressor alloys...not in the best of condition but perfect for a refurb.

Coming back to the Corolla, i will miss her dearly, she never let me down, service them on time and they just keep going, the only niggles before i traded her was some slight smoke that the trader pointed out yesterday...i didnt even notice it...thought it was normal...and a little water in the boot...might have been me damaging the seals when i removed the lexus lights...oh and some rattle sound at the drivers side wheel...otherwise she was spot on for whats going to be 10 years old!

I would recommend the Corolla to everybody looking for a cheap and reliable motor...ideal for a family of 4...can be a little tight in the rear if you have 2 grown up teenagers...hence which is why we let her go, due to out-growing it sadly with our princess on the scene.

Any hoo...wishing you guys all the best...take care all...and keep the forum going strong...you guys have been great to me in the past...will miss those that helped...especially a dear Old friend that ends with Codger...a true credit to the club!

So it is only goodbye to the Corolla club, as you bought the Avensis - see post 16 of. http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/171232-considering-a-20-litre-diesel-2010-avensis-t4/

You'll still be very welcome to continue to pop into this club.

Wish you all the best with your new purchase.

I'm looking for a Toyota right now. I considered the Celica but I had to decide whether my car was going to be a toy or a tool. Common sense kicked in and I decided it needed to be a tool I can use. So now it's down to either an Avensis or a Corolla. It's good to hear positive reports about reliability because that's exactly what I need.

Hi Sammy,

Yes, will miss you ,but glad that Frosty mentioned you were back in the Avensis club, hopefully a better one than your Mk1 Avensis!

A Diesel as well eh ! can you stand the tap, tap, tapping

You will have to put up a pic of it ..

Think I might have looked at another Avensis, but no hatcback these days and the tourer just too big for my needs.

Take care.. :flowers: :flowers:

Hi OldCodger

You got me there...failed to mention it on purpose...lol...specifically because of you...i was too worried to even mention the name! We've both been through a lot back in the days hey.

But we're hoping...fingers crossed...this might be the right one...and yes its a diesel...but it sounds so sweet...and it makes a change to driving petrol...just a different experience...i actually like it...read a lot of horror stories...but i hope and pray that this one goes for years without any serious issues...for a start the boot is desert dry lol.

I agree...no more hatchbacks...but the saloons arent too bad...massive boots...i would have preferred a tourer actually...takes getting used to having no rear wiper...but the technology is amazing.

Go for one...treat yourself...time for a change mate...what da yaa say?
