Engine Stopped On Highway

My toyota auris 07 diesel stopped on the highway

No warning lights it just stopped.

When I turn the ignition the engine is trying to start but my feeling is that the problem leys whit the fuel

Have changed fuel filter,

Is there any rely for the fuel pump?when I turned the ignition I didn't get end fuel tide filter and the hand pump didn't work at first.,had too push the fuel with air from the fuel tank after that the handpump works.

Any ideas
