Hello Hasan - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Duplicate post deleted - please only post the same thread once.

What fuel consumption figures have you looked at online? If these are the official EU fuel consumption figures, these are obtained using laboratory tests, are intended to provide a comparison between models which have undergone similar laboratory based tests, and are not representative of what owners achieve in the real world.

The Sport only refers to the trim level the car has - mechanically the 1.33 Sport is the same as other 1.33 models with the exception of possibly having different wheels.

Would be useful to know what mileage your car has done - for example it won't produce its best mpg until it has covered around 7,000 miles or so. Also the colder months of winter have an adverse effect on fuel consumption.

Hi yes it a petrol model, i know deisel will give better Mpg but at 29mpg that is very pretty bad. The car has done 2400 miles since may

The summer i was getting 29, 30 Mpg but in the winter best i have got 24.9mpg ?

The Toyota website and on certain car review websites they give a range of 35-50mpg, most say minimum 35mpg in the city I don't even achieve that my oil is level is correct I dont understand why is so low

Car manufacturers legally are only able to use the official EU fuel consumption figures. Some car review sites also use the official figures .......

As explained earlier the official EU fuel consumption figures are intended to provide a standard basis for the consumer to compare different models. They aren't intended to, and they don't represent the fuel consumption that an owner will actually achieve.

In the 'real world' the majority of cars achieve around 75-80% of the official EU fuel consumption figures - a few achieve less, a few achieve more.

How are you measuring your fuel consumption? Are you taking readings from the dashboard information display, are you calculating the consumption yourself using brim-to-brim figures, or something else? If you're using the display, do you zero the fuel consumption reading when you fill up - otherwise the fuel consumption displayed will be an average achieved since it was last zeroed, rather than an average since you last filled up. Also be aware that most dashboard displays tend to be optimistic.

As your car has only done 2,400 miles, it won't be producing its best consumption yet, and won't until it has done at least double the current mileage if not more. The colder months of winter also have a detrimental effect on economy.

Hasan, how are you actually driving the car? That might give us a clue as to why your fuel consumption figures are so high... What are your daily drive types like? Length etc...

Wow makes me glad I got the Hybrid, now at just under 50mpg arround town. Honest John web site gives actual owners figures, it's worth looking there for reviews!

Do you obey the nagging change gear lights?

My economy's improved no end since I got my 1.3, petrol Yaris. When the missus drives it, she actually obeys those lights, whereas previously she'd apparently chose a gear for the journey and stay in it regardless.

Mine's a hybrid so it's only got forward and reverse, I tend to keep an eye on the power meter and use EV mode as long as possible which is good for up to 30 mph. Supprisingly its economy is better on a long run, over 50 mpg, so long as you keep to the speed limits.

Wife's 1.33sr 2013 is doing about 35mpg at best all town driving, she is doing 6miles a day her drive home from work is slow moving traffic no more than 20mph at best. Before this car she had an iq that was very poor about 25mpg and she also had a mk1 Yaris before the iq that was doing about 40mpg. My son has got a base model 1.33 Yaris 2014 and he get about the same as the wife's car. But being a young lad he drives the car a bit harder than her.. Hope this helps.

My Jazz averaged 15 mpg starting from scratch on Saturday morning. It was -2C at the time and I drove 2 miles up a steep hill (100 + meters height). It is narrow and I stopped three times to let cars past. The remaining journey averaged 35mpg as the car's engine was now warm and the roads less hilly.
