Avensis Cvt Gearbox Sw Update?

We read that the CVT in the latest Avensis 1.8 models runs smoother than the previous models. The typical high revving when accelerating has been improved and the CVT shifts up and down more effectively. We know that the CVT is controlled by the computer SW. So principally it should be possible to upgrade my 2009 Avensis CVT to the last version? Or is the newer CVT mechanically a completely new design? I asked my Toyota dealer about this, but he just said that when there is a new SW version available for my car they update it when the car is in for the usual service.

I find it interesting regarding the CVT SW update improving the transmission, and Morten makes a good point that the update will improve the previous cars.

Having never been driven in a car with these transmission, I have love to experience one. On the other hand, I know the engine well and find the torque is strong over 2000 rpm, then from 4000 rpm really goes. The CVT seems suit the engine characteristic well, and the update should improves this.
