Hi all I am new to this forum and wanted some advice I am looking to buy a Toyota Avensis 1.8 VVT-i T3-S 5 door 56 plate with FDSH thats done only 3000miles but was wondering if these models still have the oil burning/leaking problem, I don't do that many miles so not looking for a diesel and the 2.0 ltr petrol is high on road tax so the 1.8 would be perfect for me, I only have a budget of 4k so any newer would be going over budget any advice would be much appreciated.

The oil issue was reportedly cured during 2005 so you should be ok. I'm sure you're aware the model was mildly facelifted in 2006 so yours should also be the facelift version.

Did you really mean 3000 miles or should it have been 30,000?

Even at 30,000 that would be only 3,000 miles a year & doing too little mileage on a car can cause issues.

Didn't buy the car in the end went on Toyota website there they have a link where you can check if any cars have been recalled for what ever reason just type in the car reg and it will tell you if there is a recall for that car but doesn't tell you what reason the car has been recalled for, I have tried several cars from 06 to 08 and most of them have been recalled I emailed all the current owners( all trade owners) asking if they have taken their cars to a Toyota dealership for check ups regarding the recall but haven't got a reply from a single one as of yet. Checked 2 cars from 2006 5 from 2007 and 4 from 2008.

recall is free work so when you purchase car just take it in toyota. nothing to worry about. most likely to be the tow bar recall, or passenger air bag,

what if the car is passed the warranty, the one I am looking at has done 30000 miles but is a 2006

Warranty has nothing to do with a Recall. Recalls are free of charge at any time
