Advice Need For Rear Led Light Repair & Bumper Scrape

Hi,

my car was backed into a post which broke the brake light (case only) and scuffed up the bumper pretty significantly. I've added photos of both.

Firstly, from looking at it - I think the whole LED light unit will need to be replaced? I've found the part here for £69 (if links are allowed). Would it be relatively easy to replace myself? I've checked the manual but only gives instructions for replacing a bulb, not the whole unit.

Secondly, the scuff comes off if I scratch it lightly with my nail - what's best practice here for cleaning a scuff off without damaging the paint?

Alternatively, am I just better off taking it to a garage to sort both jobs??

Many thanks in advance, any help greatly appreciated.

The bumper scuff...it's difficult to say whether it has gone thru the paint or the black stuff is paint from the post you hit. If the former it'll need painted to look right. If the latter it'll probably polish off with T-Cut (available at Halfords etc), or if you need it a bit stronger try Farecla G3 rubbing compound. Both of these will need elbow grease.

I didn't think the rear lights were led (bur I've never actually checked) and bear in mind the rear lights (on the saloon anyway) were different after the facelift in 2012 so make sure you get the correct ones. They'll be an easy fit, just four or maybe six 10mm bolts hold the whole light on from the inside.

Edit...the light assembly bolts might be 8mm, it's been a whille since I removed the one from my previously owned 59 plate saloon (and that one definitely wasn't led).

Yes the rear lights on my '09 Tourer are LEDs.

One word of warning though. Your lights are different to what is being sold. Mine are the same as the replacements, but different to yours!

I checked the Euro Car Part site, and lights they supply are the same as mine but different to yours.

Basically your car is the facelift version.

Those lights from ECP are 3rd party replacements for the original T27 as Konrad says.

I think that your only source atm for a facelift light cluster will be either a Toyota dealer or a scrappie.

Is it a 1 piece part or do you think that you could just get the glass separately?

If your car does need painted then try some of the SMART repair services (Chipsaway or similar) for a quote.

Thanks so much for the replies and advice. I obviously wasn't looking close enough as that isn't the right part on the link I shared! Anyway I've mostly sorted the scuff, the paint isn't damaged :)

I've had a look at how to remove the broken light before ordering anything - I can only see 3 x 10mm nut and can't see an easy way of getting them off without removing the boot trim...?

I'm pretty sure there are 4 nuts and yes you'll need to get the boot trim out the way, although you should be able to do it by maneuvering it out your way rather than completely removing it. IIRC it's held in by push-in clips which you can pull out with sharp pliers and re-use.
