03 Ce, Passenger Door Lock Cable

Hey guys my girlfriend recently picked up an 03 Corolla, but the lock on the front passenger door doesn't work. That is, the physical lock switch isn't connected to the cable that runs to the actuator. I opened her up and could see that the problem is just that the hook that connects the cable to the switch broke off. The hook is still sitting in the switch though. I only had a minute to look at it then my girl needed to leave. So I'm wondering if it's possible to maybe solder the cable to the hook? Or if I would need to buy a whole new cable? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance. Also if anyone wants a picture of the problem I'll be happy to provide one.
