Rear Brake Pad Wear

Hi all,

I recently had my rear brake pads changed. I noticed that the inner pads looked almost new (on both sides) whereas the outer pads were heavily worn. I asked the mechanic and he says he has seen this frequently on the Auris and he thought it was due to the **** calipers that come on the Auris. Anyone else seen this?

Are you sure you haven't got it bass ackwards? It's usually the inner pads that wear most ie the ones that are operated directly by the caliper pistons rather than the outer pads which are only pulled in by the sliding caliper reaction force.

yes i am sure, the inner pads the ones pushed by the caliper were like brand new, it was the outer ones that were the heavily worn. I was really surprised as I have never seen this before. I should have just swapped the pads around and rather than putting new ones in!
