Did Your Engine Work Ok After A Head Gasket Replacement?

Hi all,

I'm in the process of getting the Head Gasket replaced on the 2.2 diesel Avensis, it's a 2006 with close to 100k miles on it. Whats' happened on mine is that just the Head Gasket was replaced, no damage to Cylinder Head so this wasn't replaced.

I've read that if not done as a full engine replacement these can be repeat offenders. I know this is possible and it has happened some people, but am trying to find out how common it is. I like this car and would like to keep it for another 2-3 years at least.

Has anyone else been in a similar position and when you got the car back did it work OK or did it fail again and if so when?
