Fitting New Seats In An '04 Corolla

The one and only bit that dissapoints me with my Corolla are the seats.

So I've started looking into aftermarket seats. Only problem is I can't find anywhere that sells the slides/base frames to fit an 02 onwards Corolla (E12).

Really miffed as I found a dirt cheap Recaro Ergomed DS seat on Ebay - retail is £1200 and it went for £280 :o

Contacted Recaro and they informed me that they don't make any frames for the E12, only the E11, nor do they have any plans to make one for the E12 :crybaby:

Anyone know of anywhere that sells slides/base frames for an E12 and what aftermarket seats fit it? I don't want to go down the road of getting one hacked together and welded if I can avoid it!

Since the side airbags are located inside the seats, the removal of the seats will be a lot more difficult or atleast illegal since they affect the security or crash-impact-protection of the car. Atleast this is the case here in Finland, if the car has side-airbags as standard and all models in the same model-range have them, then it is illegal to remove them.... but impossible, no that it isn´t ;) afterall, it is illegal to exceed the speeding limit aswell, and as we all know that is a thing we all do at some point or another in our lives... ;)

Have to agree though, the seats in a standard corolla are crap. If you don´t have a TSport model you could always try to find some seats from a Tsport since they would have the same base and the airbags.

Cheers Kurtsi - it is probably the same in the UK with the legality of removing the seats but as you said about speeding

Sent a note off to Cobra and Corbeau asking about the availability of the mounts. So far Corbeau have replied with a NO.... <_<

So waiting on Cobra now...

Ref the T-Sport seats - I didn't think there was very much difference between them and the standard seats - or am I wrong?? If they are much better, then that is a good alternative....

If nothing comes of this then I might have to consider a new car.... :censor:

Peaved off now - just got a reply from Cobra - no they don't do any frames for my car! <_<

But if Recaro did, there's would fit it as they use the same mounts - might be of interest to some of you out there......

Anyway now I will have to take a look at the T-Sport interior to see if that is any better.

If not then I will have to start thinking of getting shot of her unless I can get a frame made.......
