Oil Change Using Pump Out

I bought a cheap electric pump to try out doing an oil change from the top rather than crawling about under the car in the cold and wet.. I did not expect to get it all out but I was pleasantly surprised to get 4.1L out or the 4.2L capacity including the filter. It took about 5 mins as the suction tube needed re-positioning a few times.

I know it must be better to drain the sump completely with any accumulated gunge but a lot better for the engine doing it now than leaving it, I think. One advantage of suck out is being able to pipe it neatly into screw top containers rather than having to pour warm oil from a drain tray all over the the show!

How many garages now suck it out rather than do a traditional sump drain?

Sounds a good idea to me...does anyone have an opinion on flushing oil?
