Guys And Girls...

Another thought...I've been doing some thinking...my vehicle is to be serviced at the Toyota garages when due...so I assume that they use the correct grade of oil...low ash type etc etc...and I shall be using Shell V Power plus all the way...this is all in aid of looking after our first ever Diesel...and I am terrified of the D.P.F issues and I would do anything to lower that risk...so the only other thing I can think of...is cleaning my E.G.R every say 6 months? or is monthly a better idea??? However, I don't know what the egr looks like or where it is, but I hear its an easy d.i.y job, which we should be more than capable of managing. I don't know what engine model we have other than its a 2.0 Diesel 2010 T4.

So long as the car is running well and it gets a good run. I would just use a suitable cleaner or another member has the answer you require.

Hi Sammy,

Given that your car has a version of the 1ad engine fitted, the egr will be located to the front of the cam cover. As it's a later version than mine the design of the valve itself will differ so I can't offer a anything on how to clean it. As the later model engine burns cleaner I expect it will produce less smoke and therefore need cleaning less frequently, I'd look to the Toyota recommended interval for that.

Hi Sammy.

I use top quality diesel too and twice a year, one time being a tankful before the MOT, I put Archoil AR6400-D (Amazon sell it as well as many other places) in the fuel tank, seems to keep the engine internals clean and if you do lots of short runs take it for a long decent run once a week if you can, works ok for me.
