Mk1 2005 Yaris T-Sport - Audio & Bluetooth advice required - what have you done to yours?

Hi all,

I've just bought a Mk1 2005 Yaris T-Sport 1.5 VVT-I to use as a chariot for commuting to work and I am which I am extremely pleased with it so far.

It has the standard Toyota stereo system in it which to be fair sounds pretty good given the age of it, however, as I spend around 3 hours per day in the car commuting to and from work and I ideally looking to upgrade the system and wanted to know what other people have done / what's possible.

I say what's possible purely because I would like to keep the digital display / trip computer if possible whilst upgrading to ideally a DAB head unit with bluetooth / hands free so that I can make / receive calls if necessary.

I have seen pictures of Mk1 Yaris's with a head unit installed in the gap below the existing station buttons if that makes sense?

Is this the best option or what have others done?

Any advice / pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks

Martin

My car had a radio cassette with a CD player below it. I have replaced this rig with both a double DIN unit and latterly a single DIN  unit.  Neither stereo used the built in display but it still works for the trip computer. To fit an aftermarket unit you need an appropriate replacement fascia panel. The single DIN version gives you a little chubby below the stereo. Both stereos I fitted have bluetooth included so my phone works through the stereo and the Speakers.

To install a different audio unit Autoleads makes the FP-11-10 (single din), DFP-11-10 (sdouble din), PC2-17-4 Toyota to ISO or if you want to keep steering control PC99-209 which is meant for the Avensis, but may work for other cars in the Toyota range, plus the suitable adapter cable for stereo unit chosen.

Connects2 also has a range CT24TY06 is the single din faceplate, CT23TY01A is the double din version. CT20TY01 is the Toyota to ISO cable.

The steering control option depends if the audio unit supports this function.

Try eBay and/or Amazon plus places like Nexxia or similar.

Once you choose the audio unit, and the cable adapters mentioned above, everything is plug and play.

ok, in need of some help. I have the dashboard in bits and have an adapter harness for the steering wheel / stalk controls. The harness has 3 wires, a black, blue & a pink where as the connection in the car only has a blue and a pink.  The plugs will not fit together and I am sure that I have read somewhere that some spicing of wires is required on the Yaris to get the controls to work.  Am I right in thinking that the blue & pink need to be spliced or I am missing something really obvious?

Thanks

I know this is an old post, but did you ever figure this out?! I'm at the stage of trying to connect the black, blue and pink wires from the connects2 adapter to the 3 wires from the multi display unit (red, black and pink in mine) but can't seem to find the right configuration.
