Yaris - susceptible to stone chips?

Hi,

Unless I have been really unlucky lately, my Yaris has suffered quite a bit of stone chip damage to the front aspect!

On the bonnet is a small dent and the paint totally removed from a hair-line approx. 5 mm long. There is another stone chip to the side of it.

The windshield has 3 stone chips on the passenger side, 1 requiring repair.

All this in 5500 miles. I have never experienced anything like it! Is anyone else finding this with the Yaris?

Not only the Yaris. Our Gen 3 Prius also chips and scratches easily. I am told that oil based paints cannot be used these days for cars under common market regulations.. I think it is water water based paints that are now used that is why the paintwork on most cars scratches and chips easily.

I notice you reside in Hertfordshire and I can recommend an excellent mobile paint company who can sort your chips and scratches out. Click link below:

I tried the company "Chips Away". The chap who came said he could not do chips on the bonnet etc I did not find him very helpful.

The company I have recommended to you "touched in" the chips on the bonnet of our Gen 3 and polished it. The chips are now hardly noticeable. On the rear plastic embellisher they resprayed part of the rear section and it is as new.

As regard your windshield contact your insurance company. They can authorise a windscreen company to repair the chips. Most chips can be repaired without the need for a windscreen change. My son has recently had two chips repaired on the windscreen of his Gen 3 prius.

Hope this helps.
