Hi,

I'm a new owner of a Toyota Corolla CD 3 door 1.3 auto and it's basic at the moment. I am looking to put alloys on it and I don't have a clue what size, style etc I will need... any advice would be great. Thanks!!!

Hello Nicola - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

Post moved to the Corolla club.

Your profile is showing a Corolla G6 - should this be GLS?

Hi,

Thank you!

I've just looked at my Toyota book and my Corolla is a 1.3 CD Auto not a GLS or a G6 lol!

Looking at some Panther 15 inch alloys not sure if they will fit help me understand what I need to look for please?

Hi Nicola, You need to look at the PCD (this is the bolt pattern & dimension), bolt/nut size, wheel offset & centre bore of the alloys plus whether your car can accept 15" alloys & if so what width.

1997 looks to have been a changeover date for Corolla models but as far as I can see looking at one site PCD is 4x100, bolt/nut is 12x1.50, centre bore is 54.1 & wheel offset of 45.

What wheel size & tyre size is currently on it? In order to keep the speedo  correct if you change wheel size you have to also change tyre profile to compensate.

Also, if you do change you should inform your insurer & they may or may not vary your premium.

Thank you for your detailed answer, I didn't realise fitting alloys could be so complicated! lol I think it has 14 inch steels at the moment and I will check the tyre size.

165/65/14 tyre size if that helps?

Hi Nicola, the below gives you  an idea of what 15" tyre sizes would give you a similar rolling radius (the % is the difference) as your existing 14". You have to budget for changing both alloys & tyres which tbh is going to be a big % of the theoretical market value of the car as it's 13 years old - possibly not an economic consideration?

Thanks for your help again. I did think that at first, but as its only done 45,000 miles and is in great condition I thought I might as well keep it and do it up. It's 1997 so nearly 20 years old but it runs lovely too.
