I'm going for an mot saturday. hate em i do, always ends up costing me :ffs:

this will be my first mot with a toyota tho so hopefully i'll get lucky this time :hokus-pokus:

Some MOT testers will try anything to get some extra cash out of you, suggest you check the following link (maybe even print it out) in case they try anything.

Failed on Rear wheel bearing and rear fogs...

He is goign to try and adjust the weel bearing tomorrow as he aint got time today and fingers crossed that should be fine... just need to sort the fog light wireing as he said he dont touch electrical work.. :(

The handbrake cables usually freeze and streach over winter due to the car design ..

Pads wear quick cause it's a failry heavy car ..

Droplinks and bearings are things a garage can charge a lot for and hard to prove they were okay before the MOT ..

rang my mate who works at the local Toyota dealers who has managed to get a quote for a rear bearing.. £60 + VAT...

If i need it though.. im gonna get him to buy it at trade price...:)

already been offered £5.5k for it by 2 people... and i aint sellin unless someone give me £6k... the chances of that are slim which means i'll have to keep my car..

shame... :rolleyes::lol: :P

Good News..

Picked the car up today and he managed to adjust the bearing somehow and let me off witht he fog light as he trusts me to get it sorted as its already in place but the wired incorrectly...

£20 for the adhustment.. £25 for the MOT...

£45 all in.. cant be bad... :)

My MOT cost £700 last year!... hope this years its a bit lower!..lol.

Got my fail sheet from last year,

o/s/f fog light in/op

Headlight aim out n/s + o/s

Both front vertical link rods worn

n/s/f top supension mount/braing assembly worn

both rear centre anti rollbar bushes worn

o/s/r track control bush worn

rear brake pads nearly to metal and rear discs worn

n/s/r brake binding

rear brakes out of balance

front brakes out of balance

n/s/r tyre badly warn

o/s/r tyre bulging in tyre wall (lol!... looked dead funny.. coppers pulled me for it)

both front seat belts not locking when pulled.. (turned out that they did work but only under certain contitions.. well I have a nice new set now anyway.

There you go... last years shopping list.. came to over £700 including vodka and tonic!
