Security?

Am I being really naïve, but do you think the Yaris is a secure car?

I use one of these,

301.gif

plus with the dead locks, engine immobiliser and alarm either added or factory fitted locking wheel nuts as standard on higher models, the only way I think it could be stolen is either being towed away or having your keys pinched...

Unless you know different?

Anyone had there’s stolen or attempted to be stolen? :crybaby:

Think about us without a TS,

All we have is an imobiliser, no alarm :help:

Just need to make sure I dont leave anything visible.

funny you should say this as i heard my cliffords proxy sensors go off last nite 3 times which then results in the alarm sounding. naturally i check on it like a bolt of lightening but dont see owt.......

dad says it may have been a cat??? but the sensors are set in souch a way that cats are too small to detect yet it will pick up on a person! kinda worried me a bit!

but as for secutiy i have.......

std toyota alarm, immobiliser, and twin locks

clifford 600 with 3 point immobiliser and allsorts of other stuff

disklok

and laminate security film window tints

and other things that i wont disclose!

:D

I actually stick a Wireless PIR in my motor too, which is hooked up to the house alarm and security lights...so if someone does break in...all hell breaks loose!

The Yaris though...which ever model, is a very secure car...and the number of thefts is exceedingly low, only things I've heard are oppotunity theifs breaking in to remove a briefcase or whatever that has been left in view.

Even the TS though..it's still not see as a must have item for the thief...it's not seen as been a sports car etc..no good for ram raids...and it's pretty secure anyways....happy days.

mines a bit harder to break in, even if you had the key, the car wont start unless you disarm the 2nd immoliser

soon Im gonna add wireless CCTV

I dont have a YTS but I think my car is suitably secured.... I dont have any visable security features (although yes I should get some!) but I have the immobiliser and the double locking...

Although I am planning to get an alarm installed.

yes thats the stuff gives the windows the same effect of the windscreen if that was smashed

had them proffesionally done

only thing is if you crash and they need to free you through the window then your screwed! but id rather it not be TWOCed

I've got a handbrake to gearstick lock on mine..originally had it on my old Fiesta as old shape Fez's are apparently really easy to steal...and now my Yaris has it. Only cost £20 out of Halfords..plus I never leave anything on display in mine, it aint worth the risk.

handbrake to gearstick lock?

How does that work? is it like a steering wheel lock type thing?

Cheers

Yeah Matt, my bro has one in his Mondeo....

It goes from the base of the handbrake to the gear stick and clamps around the gear stick which makes it impossible to put into gear...

All it takes is a quick flick of a key and the clamp opens and moves out the way so you can change gear again... Yay!

I'm pretty sure Blues is similar to that...

it is posible to get it in gear but you will bent the gear stick, done it loads of time

also is it possible to open the door lock with a screwdrive , done it to an old corolla, or are the locks more advanced now?

You can make a car as secure as you like against opportunity thiefs... but if someone wants to steal your car they will just ask you for your keys.

Where I live there's been a number of cases of people in subaru's, evo's etc being followed home by scum - and then they just threaten violence if you don't hand the keys over....

shocking really :(

it gives you reason to think that you may aswell carry a 12bore or baseball bat with you!

ok so your gonna come off worse when the law gets involved but you may be protecting your own life and limb!

TONY MARTIN FOR PM! THATS WHAT I SAY!
