awkward pedal position

Hi I have recently bought a 2007 Avensis Auto which I am very pleased with apart from a couple of issues with the brake and throttle pedals, firstly they seem too close together so when I come off the brake and back on the throttle my shoe catches the side of the brake pedal unless I physically lift my foot off the floor and move it to the right a bit which gets annoying after a while and secondly the toe of my shoe always seems to be catching a piece of plastic trim which is directly over the pedal which again annoying does anyone know if I can get rid of that piece of trim? and does anyone suffer the same or is it just me? I only have size 9 shoes

cheers Gordon

Could it be having your seat too far forward and your knees too upright ? if you can  move seat back and steering wheel out? it would take out the acute angle of your legs (unless you are 6ft. 6'',if you are you might have a problem!)

Hi , only 5'10'' seat back as far as I can with wheel out, I think I have solved problem of my toe rubbing the bit of trim, I have just taken it if, not the toes the trim panel, it is only two screws and unless you look under the dashboard you can't see it is missing and it doesn't do anything as far as I can see.All I need to do now is saw about 1/2" off the right hand side of the brake pedal rubber and should fix that problem as well, only joking I think,however....................

Hi Gordon, glad you have found a solution to the 'toe catcher'! as you say,the lack of that trim cannot be seen (unless you do a limbo under the steering wheel!) not sure how to fix the other problem, perhaps someone else with the same model might be able to offer you a solution.

How about sawing 1/2" off the side of your shoe!!! just don't step in a puddle!
