Our 2003 Yaris D4D T Spirit which we have owned since 2005 passed its MOT on Monday - again.  £30 at Kwikfit. No issues at all.

As it is solely used by Mrs Madasafish for short journeys, I drove it 20 miles at between 2,000 and 3,000 rpm  (mainly c 65mph in 4th gear) to clear the exhaust system of soot. They do tend to soot up if not driven long journeys which heat up the catalyst and burn off the carbon and deposits. I also fill it up (I pay the bills!:-(   with Shell V Power.

A testament to how tough it is: apart from front pads and disks, a new Battery, several sets of ARB bushes and a heater resistor,it's all original including the bulbs and the exhaust system. Not bad for a 13 year old car. Parked next to us in Asda this morning was a 2002 Yaris 1.3 Colour Collection in blue which looked in good condition as well..

They last well.

Maybe you should enter it into the Toyota Sprint Series! That'll keep its tubes clear :naughty::lol:

My MK3 is going for its 2nd MOT next Friday. Also the front brakes , both discs and pads needs to be replaced as they are almost to the limit.

However i had an issue with exhaust hanger working loose thus making the exhaust rattle like a couple of tin cans on the road, took it to the Toyota Dealer and they tightened it back up again.

The facelift versions look really naff , and there is nothing in the Toyota range i fancy to change to .... Unless they put the 1.2T engine in the Yaris :)
