Hi, does anyone know the differences with the 1CD-FTV engine code because one has 89BHP and the other has 114BHP?

My Corolla is the 2003 model with the 89BHP type but i'm just wondering what changes have been made to the 2004 model which has the same engine code but has more power

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply but Models from 2002-2004 have a 2.0 89BHP and from 2004 use the same engine model but has 114BHP

From May 2003 the EuroIV 114bhp 1CD-TV replaced the earlier 109bhp 1CD-TV. The EuroIV 1.4 D4D replaced the 89bhp 2.0 D4D from May 2004. So basically the 89bhp 2.0 litre and the 109bhp 2.0 litre engines were both replaced with updated engines meeting the then current EU emissions standards.

I wonder if its the same engine but new ECU or intercooler which I notice my Corolla hasn't got

Hello, the difference is an intercooler and a variable geometry turbo.

Its been struggling with power, like the torque is there but anything above 2,600RPM is just flat.

Boost from the turbo is good (Till it relied and kicked into limp mode) and I've had the intake cleaned up to the EGR valve and taken it on the motorway in 4th and 5th to give it a good clean.

Although it is a 335k mile engine i'm looking around to see what could bring back some of power. I also found a full car (T-Sport) With intercooler and pipes
