B9010 NAVIGATION / AUDIO SYSTEM

Hi,

I am new to this forum so please be gentle,

I recently aquired a Avensis 2.2L estate with the above navigation / Audio system, however there are a few things with it that are puzzling me, when opening the front after pressing tilt option 3 times, the open button does not open the face, so I have to manually do it, then when inserting the MAP DVD or CD its a hell of a job trying to eject them back out as the function seems to work when it wants to but not when I want it to,

Also when inserting the map dvd, it comes up as showing either the dvd is damaged or dirty, this can not be right as the disc is clean, and sometimes the navigation part of the dvd comes up on the screen, but only part of it I have tried using a lens cleaner and disc cleaner but still getting the same fault, I am hoping that someone has had this before and can help me with a solution.

Many thanks,

Mick

Usually Toyota say not to use lens cleaners in their audio products

The CD lens mechanism may not be tracking properly, probably due to wear and tear. Also there could be a foreign body on the lens, or a film causing the lens to not focus. The DVD has finer tolerances than CD so more likely to have errors with age. That is why everything went over to memory cards and solid state storage. Less moving parts to wear out.

The unit needs to be opened up, checked and cleaned, by someone who knows what they are doing!
