Squeal from rear at 4000rpm full throttle

My 2001 IQ has developed a noticable squeal - type noise which seems to be coming from the rear offside and only occurs on full throttle acceleration between around 4000rpm and 4500rpm. Any thoughts?

Since it's a front wheel drive the back wheels just trail behind so there's no reason they should squeal at any acceleration rate.

I agree it doesn't make sense but that's what happens! (25 years experience with cars). I was thinking maybe a resonance problem, perhaps from the exhaust but it sounds like a squeal rather than a boom.

Does it do it at those revs no matter what gear you are in? Or could it be more speed related? Just thinking rear wheel bearing.
