I have a toyota avensis 2.2 d4d

anyone know why diesel seems to be going into the engine oil?

Could it be the head gasket?

This sounds like the injector pipework had a leak. If it's the same as the 1ad engine it runs inside the cam cover.

Thanks for your reply,

Is it easy/expensive to repair.

It's a 2006 and done 112000 miles

I'm unsure whether this is applicable to Toyota injectors, but injectors in general terms can develop leaks directly into the engine oil, presumably as the tips wear (?).  Not a good situation, as in addition to diluting the oil, it is overfilling the sump, and can lead to the oil being forced past the rings into the combustion chamber and causing run-on even when engine is switched off.

So my suggestion would be to consider having the injectors checked

Thanks notoyboy.

The engine did run-on a couple of months ago that's when I found the excess oil, fortunately it switched off when I turned off the ignition.

I will get the injectors checked as advised
