HELP, with injectors and cars, models they fit????

hi folks, i have a 2007 avensis estate 2.2 d4d T180 diesel with four faulty injectors which to my horror are very expensive. Being in the trade i thought it would be a cheaper option for me to buy a complete salvage car with a good running engine.

The problem im finding is locating a car with the same injectors (as per photo attached), theres plenty with the other type but struggling to find these type.

Does anyone or has anyone come across this problem before? i really need some advice on which cars, models etc to look for that should have these injectors, any help would be greatly appreciated, im slowly giving in but the cars such a nice motor i dont want to give up on it.

Your car is fitted with the 2ADFHV engine which is shared with:

Corolla Verso T180 2005>2009

Auris T180/SR180 2007>2009

Rav4 T180/SR180 2006>2009

Avensis T180 2005>2009

Lexus Is220d 2005>2012

With the exception of the Is220d & Auris all of the others have a lower powered 2.2 with a 2ADFTV available ( the most commonly available ) which uses a different lower spec Solenoid type injector compared to the Piezo type fitted to the higher powered 2ADFHV in your car. The new injectors will need their compensation codes written into the ECU, also in late 2007 Toyota upgraded the injectors if you fit these the engine ECU will need updated software.

Toyota do offer the Injectors as a re-manufactured part, part # 23670-29105-84

you are reading it wrong then as your engine version is shared by all of them.

What Devon Aygo is saying though is that the Corolla Verso, RAV4 & Avensis were also available with a more prevalent, lower powered (150bhp) 2.2 engine version (2AD-FTV) but the injectors from those are not interchangeable with your 2.2 engine version (2AD-FHV) so don't get confused & get the wrong ones as they won't work in your engine.

Also, they changed the injectors in your engine type in late 2007 - if your car was built before the change & you source injectors from a car built after that change then your car will need an ECU update before it can use them.

ok i gotya now and im finding this out looking on the salvage sites, every dam picture they show has the engine cover on so cant see the injectors and theres no other way to find out from these sites without seeing the top side of engine, thanks for the reply m8y. Re-manufactured ones are like £400 each? not worth the expense.

Auris, yes, only made with the 2AD - FHV version of the 2.2 .

Lexus, has to be from an IS 220D for your engine, the IS 200D used the lower powered version of the 2.2 with different injectors.

The caveat about year of manufacture & possibility of you needing an ECU update stands.

p.s. the engine cover of the 2AD-FHV often has D-CAT written in green on it. Or if the listing says it is a 177bhp (130kw) you are OK, if it says 150bhp (110kW) you are not.

As I understood it there’s several different versions of the 2AD engine, they’re all 4 cylinder turbo diesels but they come in 2 litre and 2.2 litre forms with different power outputs and they have various internal differences.

The 2AD-FHV T180 (177 bhp) engine saw the introduction of the piezoelectric injectors. The rest had the solenoid type injectors so the T180 injectors would not be interchangeable with any of them.

On the introduction of Euro 5 compliance, all the other 2AD engines got piezoelectric injectors as well. But they were all modified injectors – including the T180’s – which require the ECU to be reprogrammed.

So if the OP gets piezoelectric injectors from a Euro 5 compliant 2AD of 2.2 litre capacity engine even with the lower bhp rating, they can be coded successfully into the T180 ECU.

The related 2.0 litre is 1AD series.

You could well be right about all getting piezo injectors for Euro5 but we would need someone like Devon Aygo to say when each engine in each model got them - it could be quite complicated.

The update to the lower powered 2AD engines was phased in through 2009-2011 but the injectors although Piezo type are not the same as fitted to the earlier 2ADFHV (180) engines and are not cross compatible.

lol sorry, but just to clarify if i was to find a car with a 57 plate or 2008 onwards, these would be fitted with the new upgraded injectors that are euro compliant? and would therefore need an update (any idea of the cost for this? and assume toyota have to do this? )  thanks.

I'm also struggling get injectors for my is220d 2006 model. They are abnormally expensive. A cousin of my had an accident with a RAV4 2l diesel 2004 model. Can the injectors be interchanged?

Hi john,

This may help with your dilemma?

I was in a similar situation, needed 4 replacement denso injectors for my 2005 2.2 D4D Avensis.

I live near Boston in Lincolnshire. I was put in contact with: Jon Pick, who is a Diesel fuel specialist who is also in Boston. Within a few days he sourced me 4 reconditioned denso injectors plus seals for my car.

I have contacted him to ask his permission to pass on his contact details.

Mobile number 07974 681667.

With the new injectors fitted my car runs like new. The price was about £800.00

I hope this helps if you haven't already fixed the problem.
