banging clutch

Hi to all. I am new to this site so I may get it wrong. I have a 2006 xt5 diesel. For some time now I have been hearing, and feeling, a banging which seems to be coming from the rear of van. it usually occurs after I have reversed off my drive and pulled forward, banging when I release the clutch changing between 1st and 2nd. Toyota have told me it is the clutch. My local garage said it was the dual mass flywheel. can anyone shed some light on this fault, I am not convinced it is the clutch, there is no judder or vibration apparent. Thanks Steelmonkey.
