DIY - Heated Seat Kits

I have the 2007 Auris with basic cloth seats....only thing it has is side airbags. 

I am contemplating fitting a set of heating pads to both front seats.

My question is, are the seat covers removable? Has anyone tried fitting aftermarket heating pads? And if so did they come across any major obstacles......

P.S. If they removable, are they washable? Cos my beige seats are filthy..

In this leather seat cover installation instruction is also how to remove the current seat covers.

No idea on fitting heating pads, since here they are factory fitted even on base models.

Good idea to take the covers out and wash them, and with this occasion it's very useful to fit heating pads... 

It must not to be so complicated.
