Turbo leak IHI VB6

Car had no power for a long time, intercooler was full of oil coming from the turbo. Apparently it's not uncommon for a little oil to be in it but this was twice the weight of a new intercooler because of the oil. Is there any seals or kits to repair the turbo or any experiences? Car is a 2002 2.0 D4D with just over 200,000 miles and the turbo model is IHI VB6

eh? really?

Kaspersky thinks its ok

anyway heres a screenshot of the website link

I was just showing that the chra

centre housing rotating assembly can be bought in most instances for between £100 - £200

pretty much a diy job strip clean mark everything and put back as was with usually little or no adjustment to wastegate

although resealing and re bushing / bearing a turbo isn't the black art its made out to be (if parts are scribed or marked then should be no need to re balance if the fins havnt been damaged)

We got a second hand one which was no better, exact same problem and possibly leaking the other side too, blue smoke on start up which wasn't happening before.

I was hoping to avoid buying a cartridge, would new seals be enough? If so does anyone have a suggestion of where to get them? There's no play in the shaft and everything turns freely.

While turbos are impressive feats of engineering their construction and assembly is something an amateur could manage.

Hoping to replace seals in the original and second hand and if nothing fails maybe sell the second one and make back my losses.

I usually look on jawarehouse for turbo stuff as and when needed which isn't too often. have had no problems with their stuff just the high end tuning market like subarus etc trying to max out the boost sometimes falls a wee bit short but not radically.   for a diesel they are tried and tested in my book

They don't have seals for the specific make and model, maybe another brand with similar dimensions would do? I'll keep looking anyway, thanks for the replies!

50 dolla and shipping. is it getting not worth it and better getting a chra?

if you do reseal

remember to loosen shaft nut clockwise or youll prob break the shaft loosening in the conventional fashion

that's the way they usually come apart anyway (rht)

good luck

also you mayneed to check if you have any oil restrictors missing from oil supply that reduces engine oil pump pressure to a manageable turbo housing pressure.

and also restriction in the return pipe from turbo?

for what its worth

my 1cd-ftv turbo seems to get a bit wet with fully synth 5/30 long life engine oil

its fine with semi synth

maybey a sign I need to keep an eye on my seals
