Driver door locking

Hi.

I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem or is it just the way the car is made as no one at Toyota dealship seems to know.

When you drive the car the doors automatic lock. But when you get out of the car the handle on the door won't open the door. I have to do one of the following to get out of the car.

1) push the unlock on the key fob

2) press the rocker switch on the door to unlock all the doors in the car.

Does anyone have this problem or is it just a problem with my car?

Above is the procedure to turn off the functions as detailed in the owners manual. The doors have to be opened within a few seconds of switching off. The doors unlock within that time. After that short period, you have to use the unlock button or remote.

It doesn't really though if he wants to keep the autolock feature enabled.

On my 2012 upon switch off I can open the driver's door via the internal handle (without having to unlock via fob or switch). It would appear to be a problem with his car.
