New car / windscreen replacement

We have just picked up an Auris from Toyota main dealership and it had the windscreen replaced due to a stone chip in the centre of the screen. Just drove it home and the worst thing happened. Got an even bigger stone chip in a different place on a brand new windscreen!

Just wondered what my options were, do I take it back to the dealership? and see what they can do or do you think I should claim on insurance? I know there is a windscreen excess.

Thanks for help. Gutted it has happened.

Hello Chris - welcome to Toyota Owners Club.

As it isn't a manufacturing fault and it wasn't present when you collected the car, it has to be an insurance job. Depending on the wording of your policy, you may have to use the insurer's approved windscreen repairer.

Ok thanks.

I had a stone chip in my other car on this same road last year which lead to a screen replacement - must just be co-incidence but I swear there are too many loose stones on that road :P Should probably report it somewhere.

Thanks for your help.

Don't think the Local Authority will be interested unless there are potholes.

Yeah, it depends on the LA; Some are deffo better than others when dealing with such things. It's worth notifying them anyway regardless if it's not a massive hassle. (My LA has a web form for submitting issues like potholes and road surface defects etc.)
