Yaris odometer problems

Hi I have an 8 year old Yaris and I do between 4 and 6 thousand miles per year, Despite driving much the same this last year my odometer is reading that I have done almost 20 thousand miles .

I do not understand it. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Have you been getting a lot of wheelspin eg when starting away from traffic lights?
