Voice control?

Hi, new to the forum. Recently got a Auris Hybrid Excel, 2015 with 10k on the clock. Wow, what a wonderful car, I'm very pleased with my purchase. One small problem I have though is getting the voice recognition to work. Every time I press the button on the steering wheel the display say "voice recognition not available". Is there anything else in the system that needs setting up for this feature to work. I have looked in the manual but it just says press the button and speak.

Hope someone can help.

Think the car needs to have Touch2 and Go Plus fitted for the voice recognition to be enabled.

Thanks for the reply, I feel sure it has got the Touch 2 and go plus. I may be wrong but it has all to Internet connectivity etc. Thought is was standard on the excel. It's not a huge problem and I can live without it, but it might be useful. Thanks anyway.

Regards

Nigel

Hi it should deffinetly have the go plus sat nav unless the previous owner specified it without to save costs but I think it came as standard with the excel. I have the icon + 2015 but I have not got the go plus so I get the message feature not available I mentioned  this to my dealer and he said it might be my phone he said if the phone itself has not got voice recognition then it won't work, but I have since found out that the go does not have voice recognition.

seems a bit pointless to me to put the voice recognition button on the steering wheel if it does not work, unless it is for ease of manufacturing.

The voice recognition button would be a standard fitment and enabled when Touch2 with Go Plus is fitted. The current post facelift Auris Excel has Touch2 with Go Plus as standard.

The facelift Auris went on sale in the summer of 2015, so it is possible that the OP has a pre-facelift 2015 Auris Excel, which may not have Touch2 with Go Plus as standard - the spec could be checked with the dealer.

Toyota has done this for years - yes, it means that they minimise parts but also in the event of a dealer fit or upgrade you don't also have to buy a new wheel.

We have also had similar fitments on our previous cars. For example on a Mazda 2 (built by Ford at the Fiesta plant in Spain) we had a 'media' button on the head unit which was only enabled if the optional mini-disc player was installed.

Thanks for all the replies chaps. I would appear that I don't have the "go" version. I checked on My Toyota website and it says it's the Touch 2 Go that is fitted in my particular car, no plus mentioned. Ohwell, no big issue really.

Thanks again for the help.
