Hmm, as far as i can remember (dont quote me, this is sketchy knowledge) - anyone can contact the dvla and ask for this info. People are right on here to be suspicious and you should ensure that you follow up every line of enquiry to establish who the hell has been enquiring.

Dont ever be fooled by thinking that because theres an STi or a Merc near you that your ok - far from it, your the bigger target. Who looks for a !Removed! in a Yaris?...

Get in touch with your local AUTOCRIME section, it will be probably 2 or 3 police officers for your force and as such will be easier to liaise with them, secondly; HARRASS the DVLA and try and get some more info so you can;

a) assist the police if required

B) put your mind at ease if it is a genuine mistake on someones part.
