Locking car without alarm

My wife is a wheelchair user and often stays in the car when I leave the car to do things.  Is there any way we can lock the car with my wife in the passenger seat without triggering (or setting)  the alarm but allowing her the ability to open her door in the event if an emergency? As far as I can see there is only a locking switch on the driver's door. Thanks.

You can turn off the proximity alarm for the inside of the car which allows for pets to be left in the car without setting off the alarm or in your case to leave a disabled person to be left in the car, I haven't got my new Prius yet so can't say for definite that you can still open the car from inside but knowing the Japanese view on safety I would be surprised if you can't . I think that the button for enabling this feature could be under the steering wheel going by what I have read on the Priuschat site.

Sorry I can't be more helpful but I am sure that more knowledgable people on here will be able to give you more information.

On the Gen 4, the MFD asks, via a "YES" or "NO" option on the screen, if you want to disable the interior sensors as you turn the car off, you have to press the select button within a few seconds to disable them. Just make sure you don't double lock the car if you're leaving someone in, otherwise they won't be able to unlock it. The Gen 3 has an overhead button to press.
