What Brian Cooley (never heard of him) doesn't mention is that, depending which country you're in, speedometer accuracy is regulated by either by

1. a UNECE regulation,

2. an EC directive,

3. or in the UK, Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986.

It isn't just 'an automaker's tradition' as he claims. He also doesn't cover the difference in regulation between the UK and Europe.

So the video provides incorrect information.

I checked my speedo today against a GPS and found that they match perfectly. The slight extra height on the tires... oops, tyres must have dialed the speed right in. 😉
