Hi can anyone help me with my 2000 Avensis. I have got a water leak somewhere on the rear off side that keeps filling the void where the jack is kept. I have also had troble with the rear wiper in that it won't switch off. I don't know if the two are connected? My local garage has disconnect the rear wiper electrics to stop the motor burning out but can't offer me a solution to the water problem. Any help or suggestins would be appreciated.

Check the seals around the back lights.  Also on later models there are vents in behind the bumper at each side of the boot, and the seals can give problems.  Not sure if your model has them but it probably does.

You are correct Alan, I noticed my old Mk1 did have the vents as described.
