Hi.

First, sorry for my bad english, but I´m from Denmark.

I have a Toyota Avensis D4D 2003-mod(newish) with the MotorCode 1CD-FTV. I have a broken AC pump that make an annoying sound. I have heard from others that I can bypass this AC-pump with a shorter belt, is this real? And what length of the new belt do I need to do this? Since there are no tension pulley on this system, how can i tighten the belt? Do I have to tight it with the idle pulley on the inside or outside of the new belt?

The following two links showing the belt options for the belt, with and without A/C:-

http://www.gatesautocat.com/drive/TOYOTA/Avensis/CDT250/1CDFTV/03-03_04-06/33161

http://aam-europe.contitech.de/pages/web-katalog/web-katalog_en.cshtml

The following is a link showing a rough diagram to the belt routing for bypassing the A/C:-

http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/2003/avensis/cdt250l-aemeyw/3_273550_071_223W/tool-engine-fuel/1605_v-belt

An alternative diagram:- http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/eu/2003/avensis/cdt220l-aemnyw/3_273540_054_/tool-engine-fuel/1605_v-belt

This company Dayco also shows the belt option:- http://web.daycogarage.com/catalogue/en-us/search-model?a=1&t=1#aDP

So the average belt is 5PK 1113 and it runs between the power steering pump and the crank pulley.

Thank you for the answer. But how will I get the shorter belt on the steering pump pulley and the crank pulley when it`s not possible to tight/loosen these two pulley`s, or is it?

There seems to be little info that I could find.

I did find this video from another member, which has a similar engine and shows the A/C adjustments:

It is similar to the adjustment of the alternator on petrol cars. The hinge bolt helps lock the A/C in position, and the other bolt under the pump near the radiator, adjusts the tension.

Hopefully a more detailed info may appear.
