Cold start problem Avensis 2004 D4-Vvti

Hello.

Now, my avensis 2004 D4-VVTI 2.0cc petrol engine, gives me a problem when starting in the morning. It ignites well, but on engaging a gear e.g reverse, it stalls/ switches off. If I let the engine heat up for about 20minutes the effect is reduced. The car moves pretty well after hitting the road.

the same problem also happens when I slow down at a hump.

What could be the problem? Is it that Avensis is not a start and Go car?

There could be many reasons why it does that.

Try cleaning the throttle body, the idle regulator could be dirty. The car should start moving then slowly lifting the clutch and without toutching accelerator, if manual.

thanks for your response. Will try this. My mechanic says it could be the temperature sensor, what do you say?

diagnosis shows no problem. The car is automatic.
