2 avensis same symptoms same time

Hi there any help at all is much appreciated  here goes . We have 2 avensis cars in our family both 2004 1.6 petrol engines recently both cars within the same week cut out while driving  both extremely scary scenarious  and refused to start again . Heres where i may or may not be paranoid recently we caught some1 at the back of our car doing something maybe trying to steal or tamper with something  within 2 days of this incident both cars developed identical symptoms and died whil driving and wouldnt restart could this be total coincidence or am i right to fear thry have been tampered with .any advice or help is much appreciated.

Check your exhaust pipe see is something lodged in it or your fuel line to see if its cut
