Diagnostic Test

Hi all,

I have a 1998 Rav4.1. engine number 3S24.....,  engine code 3S-FE,  body code SXA10.I have previously placed a thread on the web page regarding the Hesitancy and Missing when in low revs, so what I want to know is::

Is it possible to carry out a Diagnostic Test on this model RAV? Does my RAV have the correct plug which the tester can use to plug in their equipment?

As I am medically unable to carry out any checks myself I thought a diagnostic test would be the cheapest and quickest way of finding out what the heck is wrong with my RAV.

Cheers

You can Google or look on this site you can short out two pins on the Diagnostic connector under the bonnet and count the flashes on the light on the dash, but it sounds like at Distributor fault....very common fault, I spray the Distributor with freeze it and if the vehicle runs OK till the freeze spray wears off it proves it's the Dizzy... cheap from a scrap yard,,, it won't show up via Diagnostics

This is a good answer, but I think mudinuri can't physically do this.

If you go to a Toyota Dealership, or a reputable independent, they'll be able to use the diagnostic connector and other computerised loveliness to diagnose the problem. Not sure how expensive it'll be, sometimes the computer check they'll do for free if you ask them nicely.

Yep I read his topic, but I'm sure he could get someone to bridge out a couple of pins while he counts the flashes, he must drive, and surely if his engine model still as a dizzy (not sure what year they changed) he could spray it with freeze it etc...
