Am I reading it wrong or has the fixed service and repair costs just risen.

It seems the auris is now included in the same costing category as the avensis,if this is correct it will make me think again about replacing my current auris with another.

Yep, all the prices have gone up, not just a little bit either. So much for cheap motoring, with the new road tax bands coming in next year too

We found that the servicing costs of our previous two second cars (2007 Mazda 2 and 2012 Hyundai i20) were on a par with the increased service costs of the Auris. The Mazda had intermediate services costing £199 and full services costing £300 - and this was prior to 2012. So if you do move marque, check out the servicing first.

With our 2015 Hyundai i20, we bought a service pack (one off payment bought with a new car) - £349 for three services which seemed good value compared to our previous i20 which cost double this for a service plan (fixed at 2012 prices).

Presume those prices you quoted are for dealer servicing,a decent indie would do it for less than half the prices the dealers are asking .but that old chestnut the warranty keeps popping up.

£180. For an intermediate service ,which is little more than an oil and filter change ,and £330 for a full service is ridiculous and to be honest prices me out of the Toyota marque.

As I quick comparison I've just googled Nissan and seat fixed service costs ,Nissan -£150 & £220.     Seat-£180 & £220.

Ive just been in today for service and brake pads at dealers, and because I booked it before the price rise I was lucky to get it at the old fixed rates, but they gave me a service plan for the next three services and mot,s ,cost ..over £1000.  Haha.

Under block exemption as long as your indie is a proper garage  & uses consumables & parts that conform to Toyota standards at intervals that also conform to Toyota specifications then your original warranty will remain intact. You would have to keep any invoices/receipts to prove that had been adhered to in the event of any warranty claim.

If the car is under a Toyota Extended Warranty then they can & do require servicing to be at a Toyota approved garage to keep that valid.

There may be certain things that your average indie may not be able to do though as it may not be financially viable for them to buy/lease/rent the necessary specialised equipment.

A car with a full dealer service history will be worth more than one without when it is resold.

When comparing service costs across brands you have to make sure that they are all quoting for exactly the same work (actually even Toyota dealers quote differently - some will include things like replacement pollen filters & brake fluid changes in their quote & others won't).

Also, did you see that Toyota have introduced a new, cheaper scheme for cars over 5 years old?
