Hello - New Auris Owner!

Good Morning All,

I'm Chris and I'm a keen motoring enthusiast, based in Scotland. My main hobby is actually restoring old Land Rovers, the latest project of which I've just sold. I have been looking for a more practical and reliable car to use every day and for commuting (as Land Rovers are not always the most sensible!). I have struck a deal with someone in my family who is selling her Auris due to lack of use. It's a 2007 Auris 1.6 TR and it's only covered 8010 miles (she bought it but moved away and it only gets the occasional run). It's therefore in immaculate condition and drives like new. It's a really tidy car. I'll attach a picture below.

I'd like to understand what the drawbacks may be of buying a car which has spent a lot of time sitting idle. I suspect it may need a new Battery because that sometimes drew flat after a few months of not being used. I suspect it will need a very good service too (although it had an engine flush recently).

I would also like to freshen up the appearance a little. I'm only 24 and would like to make it look a little more youthful. I don't have a lot to spend on it but I thought perhaps a subtle rear roof spoiler and some sportier looking alloys. I really like the look of the SR model with the tints, spoiler and beautiful alloys (see third pic). Does anyone have any idea how I could go about finding those parts?? I cannot find the alloys or anything like them on eBay

I look forward to getting involved with the club and hopefully meeting some of you soon.

Thanks,

Chris
