Attached you'll see where the black plastic air pipe attaches to the engine. I know the connection twists and clips into place. However I've noticed that  there's a wee gap on one side where you can see grey foam (assuming). It doesn't go in any further. If you try to force it the end of it moves up a little which seems to force it out of place. Is the wee gap normal ? Managed to push it in a wee bit but there is a wee bit of play. Maybe that's for the heat ? Not sure though ?

Also so this is normal but I'd like someone's take on it. I drove 8-10 miles came back and forgot about checking the water which I don't do because it seems to be fine but when I opened the bonnet it was absolutely steaming hot. Piping hot like opening an oven and the heat hits you. I didn't realise how much heat a 1L puts out for such a small driving distance ? I felt the engine and that was hot and I felt the air pipe which I described above and that was red hot.

my only words of advise would be to go back to the dealership

and speak to them as you seem to have a lot of issues with your new car

The clutch and the gears are fine. I'm not thinking about now when working both. There's no problems, just a couple of pointers anyone can help with. The heat off the air pipes a strange one. Maybe that's how it works I don't know hence why I'm asking the questions. Never had a new motor before so I don't know what's normal and what isn't from new. The connection but I don't know either. Maybe someone who has the same model could take a look at their one and say yeah that's how it works sort of thing

the foam will be to ensure a good seal thats all so i wouldn't be concerned

the air pipes being red hot would be of concern to me as they carry COLD air

therefore they shouldn't become that hot maybe slightly warm due to the location of them.

I haven't looked at the engine bay of the new Aygo's/108's/C1's etc, but I know from my 107 there isn't much of an air pipe. There's a bit of a stub that sits on the side of the engine leading to the air filter. It all sits a top of the engine, which is going to get hot regardless. Because of the small size they don't have much room for placing these things apart.

Yeah it's plastic and right at the front of the motor on your left just in front of the engine. It gets hotter than the engine itself !

I wouldn't call it a pipe tbh. It's just a piece of plastic and I have put my hand into it when the engine was running and it was like warm air I was feeling all be it not powerful

That's the same sort of set up but last years model the pipe is bottom left that has a bend half way along and the engine directly above
