rear parcel shelf problems

Hi, Just bought a 4-3 later type 2006 Rav 4,  It didn't come with a parcel shelf so I've bought  one of eBay that's supposed to fit . I thought that the front part would roll out and fit to the back of the rear seats but it doesn't roll out and looking in an on line handbook it looks like it fits to some kind of net which of course I don't have . Can somebody throw some light on this net with photo if poss, or have I bought the wrong shelf. I think my best bet would be to get the mrs to try to make something to fill the gap. Any ideas please ?

Don't know about the RAV 4 but on my Auris there's a gap between the parcel shelf and the rear seats if the seat backs are fully upright. The rear seat backs can recline a little if you press the button but hardly worthwhile from a comfort perspective in my opinion.

Do the rear seat backs in the RAV 4 recline?

The Auris rear seats have two positions for the backrests - the more upright position leaves a gap between the seat and the parcel shelf.

Some versions of the Rav4 have a roller blind type luggage cover, which fits into a recess in the body side panels behind the rear seat backs. The roller blind has flaps which hook onto the rear headrests to fill any gap between the luggage cover and the seat back, when the seat backs have different degrees of recline. Is there a square recess in each of the side panels  behind the rear seats?

Thanks for the replies, my parcel shelf is similar but not the same, the rear part falls short of the rear seats by about 6". See photo. The rear of the shelf is not a roller blind it's fixed. As I mentioned earlier I've read of it fixing to a net that I don't have.

Slide your seats back and those straps will clip on to the head restraints (you may also need to adjust the recline). There is no net arrangement.

That's it ! Why didn't I think of that. I was convinced there was something missing. Thanks
