Canot turn off front passengar air bag using key

Hi All,

I recently purchased Toyota auris hybrid 2010. Few weeks ago I needed to turn off the front passenger air bag. I used the car key but key switch doesn't stay at OFF position. Key just moves back to ON. I have tried searching online to find a solution but couldn't find anything related. not sure if I am missing something.

Only the dash mounted front passenger airbag may be disabled via the key switch, not the curtain airbag you've pictured. Although the A pillar moulding looks like it has been tampered with, judging by the picture.

On the lower dash, beneath the air con controls, does the passenger airbag light come on when the ignition is turned on?

To disable the front passenger airbag, turn the switch to "off" and whilst holding in the "off" position withdraw the key

Yes that light comes on. when I switch the air bag key the light also changes from ADULT ONLY to   OFF SAFE FOR CHILD, but key doesn't stay in that place hence key moves back and light goes back to ADULT ONLY
