Hi finally getting round to changing my gearbox oil this week!!

Bought myself a Haynes manual thinking it would tell me the correct size sockets etc that I need. Sadly it doesn't 😢

I wanted all my to old ready before starting but unless I can find out that's not going to happen.

There was a thread on here a while ago with pictures and a description "how to change transmission oil" but its  gone.

Does anyone kindly know the correct sizes of socket and torx drive required to do the job.

Would be extremely grateful if anyone does know.

Thanks

I believe its 24mm socket you need.

Roks.....thank you very much.

Is that for drain and fill?

On my petrol corolla its same for both.

The top up / level plug can be very tight so ensure you use a good spanner; rather than a spanner you might need a socket and bar to get the leverage needed.

Also wear some thick gloves because if the spanner/socket slips off in that confined area you can do your hands some damage !

Similarly, do not over tighten when replacing either plugs, if in doubt use a torque wrench, torque values are in the Haynes manual.

A set of spanners or preferably 1/2" sockets sets from 10mm -24mm is a worthwhile buy, but you gets what you pays for.

Have not done a lot of searching but this set looks ok  for basic diy.

Fantastic thanks both of you...I'll buy a 24mm spanner and socket from my local Euro carparts, that should sort me out.

Just a quick update...done the gearbox oil change and can confirm it's 24mm drain and refill
