Avensis 2005 D4D – Creeping brake pedal

Hi

I am a new member, any ideas on this.  Thanks

If I hold the brake pedal just lightly, just to stop the car rolling, say at a junction.  The pedal slowly does down but not all the way and the brakes still hold.  There is no loss of fluid, is this just a characteristic of this model, as I know it is not uncommon with other vehicles, but only just noticed this recently, otherwise brakes work perfectly.  It has discs and pads all round last year.  Mileage is 76,000.  Any ideas.

Is the engine running whilst it's creeping?

This seems to be normal for the diesel Avensis and has been posted before.

The car was deemed normal by Toyota and VOSA, so passed the MOT. Another post by TomdeGuerre mentions the same thing.

My old 04 avensis used to do the same , light pressure on the pedal and it would eventually go to the floor but if you were to stamp on the brakes it would hold the pressure no problem. Was fixed when Toyota replaced the master cylinder under warranty

The vacuum pump is also worth bearing in mind, see attached from a post made by Devon Aygo.

It should be capable of holding 650mm Hg.
