Hi, I'm Kaz, found this site when looking for an answer to a car problem.

I have a Toyota Avensis T-Spirit (2004), broke down on Monday, just stopped and wouldn't restart. RAC man came out and squirted something straight in to engine and car tried to start, so he said he thought it was the fuel pump and towed it to the garage. When it got there, it now starts and runs fine, so mechanic is not sure what could be the problem, does anyone have any ideas please?

Hi Kaz,

Have they checked for error codes yet?

Could be just a bad electrical connection and that would be enough to cause it not working one time and working another.
