so yeah, local Toyota wanted 170 euro + labor.

on eBay a used one it's only 40 euro so why not diy?

Does anyone know if the seatbelt mechanism for the Auris 1st gen has a pretensioner and if so any special precautions to remove it? Or do you simply unbolt it and rebolt the replacement part?

thanks

Be interesting to know whether they're fitted on the rear of the Auris, I've never done one. I changed one on a V40 a while back and it was integral to the automatic reel retraction mechanism. Thing is it was a pyrotechnic device and had an age limit of 10 years on it and I wondered how long it would be before it became an MOT item for mandatory replacement.

local car electrician said that if there was one fitted, i'd prob get a warning light on the dashboard now that the seatbelt mechanism is broken but i dont know..

i read somewhere that all 1970s+ toyotas come equipped with one but it prob means on the front seats only??? (as at the rear belts didnt become mandatory till the 90s)

In the UK the fitting of rear seat belts to new cars became mandatory in 1987, and the wearing of seat belts became compulsory in 1991.
